Dorothy Curtis (Finley)

Dorothy Louise Finley, age 59, Rapid City, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, in a car accident near Sturgis.

Dorothy was born Dec. 14, 1940, in Newell to William and Elma (Welch) Curtis.  She was delivered by her aunt above the machine shed.  She attended school in Rapid City and then moved with her family to Pierre, where she received the rest of her education.  In 1960, she married Ambrose Lemieux in Pierre.  She worked for the Department of Motor Vehicles for 10-1/2 years.  She moved to Rapid City and worked as a title clerk for the Pennington County Treasurer's Office.  Dorothy married Terry Finley on Octover 14, 1988.

She most recently ran for Pennington County treasurer in the June primary.  Dorothy had more than 20 years of experience in motor-vehicle work, and she loved the public and helping others. Dorothy was active in the Corvette Club and was a member of the Rapid City Eagles Club.  She loved attending rodeos and stock-car races.  Dorothy loved her family and friends and enjoyed driving her red Corvette. 

Survivors include her husband, Terry Finley, Rapid City; one daughter, Becky, and her husband, Leon Feist, and their children, Zachary, Joshua, and Kylie, all of Rapid City; son Jeffrey and his wife, Robin Lemieux, and their children, Jeffrey Jr. and Jennie, all of Pierre;  son Gregory Lemieux, Huron; son Michael and his wife, Shelley Lemieux, and their son, Austin, Pierre; son David and his wife, Angela Lemieux, and their daughter, Jordyn, Pierre; her mother, Elma Curtis, Pierre; sister Vesper Swenson, Rapid City; brother Roy Curtis, Little Rock, Ark. and brother Lyle Curtis, Rapid City.  She was preceded in death by her father.
